With snow falling from as early as October onwards, we are all raring to get on the pistes by the time December arrives for some Morzine December Skiing !
Many are surprised to hear that the premier neige or opening week in resort is a best kept secret. It is far less of a gamble on snow as some may think. And with the past 4 winter seasons seeing Avoriaz opening its doors up to 2 weeks early, it proves to be something of an early Christmas gift!
When the countdown to lift opening is up, the first week of skiing is like no other!
Avoriaz is the snow sure jewel in the crown of the Portes du Soleil. With its high altitude and proximity to the Mt Blanc mountain range, Avoriaz catches the first of the cold in late Autumn when the snow begins to dust the highest peaks. By opening week, the slopes are laden and often provide skiing a couple of weeks ahead of other slopes in the wider Portes du Soleil ski area.
During opening weekend, Avoriaz plays hosts to Rock on Snow: Test Centre where you can test over 80 brands of skis and boards… FREE of charge!
Not forgetting the Christmas festivities which are put on in our chalets and throughout the town in addition to Morzine December Skiing! We offer both 7 night stays as well as short breaks during the premiere neige week to coincide with the scheduled opening dates in Avoriaz 1800 (though it may open even earlier dependent on the December snow). We then offer 7 night stays to make the most of Morzine December skiing and Avoriaz too!
