Thought this might be a fun blog post to inspire some of our summer guests. Also to let them know some of the activities that are available locally for summer adventures in Morzine!
Walk – The trails of the Tourist office walking guide
St Bruno chapel built almost 400 years ago on the shore of Lac Vallon. This is one of the walks recommended by the tourist office.
Since lockdown ended we have been getting out and about a lot. And one by one walking the trails of this great little booklet from the tourist office. The book opens with a summary of how long each walk takes and how high up it goes which makes choosing a suitable trail easy. Our favourite so far has been walking around Lac Vallon or the Nyon waterfall trail. Beware, Vallon is a popular spot however the trail is wide enough to keep your distance. There is a beautiful chapel at one end which looks like something straight out of Disney. Perfect for summer adventures!
Swim – The secret bays of Plage St Disdille
First day of the school summer holidays at Plage St Distille!
Going to a beach may not sound very socially distanced. However, walk a few minutes to the left of the beach and you will discover many many bays. Keep going until you find your own one. Swimming in the lake really feels like summer has started and Disdille is one of our favourite beaches. It is set in the chestnut forest of Chateau Ripaille, a few KM from the Evian bottling plant. The water is constantly refreshed from the river Dranse delta that flows down from Morzine. Take a picnic with you or get a take away from the nearby bakery.
Run – The trails of the Tourist office trail running guide
The summit of France’s steepest vertical kilometer, Nantaux – Morzine
I had never tried trail running however during lockdown when we could only travel 1km from the house the only trails I could run were those on the mountain behind our house. It did not take long at all to get used to and it has now become my favourite way of exploring the mountains. Pick up the map from tourist office and get exploring.
Cycle – Green routes galore!
Cycling alongside the river in Morzine, one of the 3 local riverside rides suitable for all the family.
As a family we love cycling have tried most of the local ‘voie vertes‘ dedicated cycle paths. On the hit list this summer is the trail from Morillon to Samoens, the trail alongside the river in Abondance and velo Piste 1 in Switzerland from Martigny to Montreaux.
Mountain bike – The Portes Du Soleil loop
With one seat out of 2 running on the chair lifts, marked lines for queuing and hand santisatiser at the lifts we are feeling pretty confident about mountain biking mindful of C19 this summer. What better way to get to know the domain than completing the famous passportes du soleil loop!
